Cartagena, Spain

Pulley from a modern era vessel found on the Mar Menor coast. This pulley was used when deploying the ship's ropes to make pulling them easier. The absence of metal elements in the piece, except for the ring that attaches the pulley wheel to the bolt, enabled the item to be dated pre-20th century. It was recovered from La Embestida, a vessel found in very poor condition on the beach of the same name, with around 13 metres of its length preserved
