In the movie ‘modern times’, Charlie Chaplin runs around between the cogwheels. It represents the annihilation of humans in the mechanized world where everything is mass produced and mass consumed. When seeing in such perspective, modern is situated on the same line with mass production and the history of high-speed development. What's important here is that who were the protagonists in such period. Although there were many people such as politicians, educators, stars, etc who could have led the era but what is clear is that those who worked in the hidden side were the real protagonists, the Modern Boy.
