Mola : Chicken And Cat Musicians

The mola is an art form that is part of the traditional women's clothing of the Kuna, an indigenous people from Panama and Colombia. This Mola panel is made with cotton fabric and handsewn with reverse applique. It has a red background with a multi-colored design of a chicken playing a guitar and a cat playing an accordion, surrounded by several people dancing.

The Spanish words "Gallo y el Gato", i.e. Rooster and the (male) Cat, are at the top of this mola.
