Guan Bu was born in 1928. He is executive director of China Artists Association and honorary president of China National Minority Art Promotion Association for life. He graduated from Qiqihar Military and Political University in 1947, and stayed in the university to engage in literary and artistic activities. He was the editorial team leader and editorial committee member of Inner Mongolia Pictorial, the creation team leader of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Art Studio, and the deputy secretary-general of Beijing Municipal Literary Union. He was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award of Literature and Art" and the gold medal by the Party Committee Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. His representative works include Evening, Miss Grassland and Happy Meet. Published are "Official Cloth Chinese Painting Collection", "Official Cloth Oil Painting Collection", "Official Cloth Chinese Painting Selection", "Mongolian Painters Official Cloth" and "Official Cloth Collection". In 2007, the Guan Bu Art Museum officially opened in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia. In the museum, 58 oil paintings, traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy works donated by Guanbu to his hometown are displayed.
