Haider Ackermann, born in Santa Fé de Bogotá Colombia, spent his childhood living in various cities throughout Europe and Africa. After completing school, he moved to Antwerp to enroll in the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. After graduation, he founded his own label in 2001, and since 2005 his label is part of bvba32, the group behind designer Ann Demeulemeester. His women’s wear collections are acclaimed for their beautifully draped silhouettes, fluid and innovative use of soft leather and suede, and a rich smoky colour palette. This monochrome ensemble demonstrates how Ackermann creates a strong, and deceptively simple, look with intricate cut and fold. The lack of abundant decoration or prints directs attention to the craftsmanship, as well as the interplay of lines in the pattern.
