Inspired by the formal kamishimo (matched upper and lower garments) attire of samurai, , this piece is named “mononofu”. It is made by a traditional technique of chikuunsai bamboo work. This piece was crafted with the idea that there must be a “bamboo way” where the bamboo itself trains the mind and hand, similar to the samurai following the philosophy of the way of the warrior, bushido, in mind and body.
