This monstrance, made in Oporto, bears the mark of the workshop of António Soares de Melo and comes from the transition period between the last years of the Baroque towards the Neoclassical. Its elegant structure, still characterized by curvilineal Baroque forms, is enriched by the fine craftsmanship in its coloured gemstones, and in particular the fashioning of the superb aquamarines. The piece comes from the Convent of Louriçal.
