Trained at the Accademia Cignaroli in Verona, a pupil of Giuseppe Canella, Ercole Calvi (1824-1900) was a follower of the romantic landscape painting. As time went by, his painting revealed more and more open concessions to a decorative landscape painting with an impressionistic touch, as can be seen in the painting "Monte Rosa", a work in which we can happily admire the decorative delicacy and elegance of his pictorial touch.
