Monumental crater

Fragment of a monumental crater with the head of Bacchus. A head or mask in relief depicting a young, rather inexpressive face adorned with a crown of ivy, vine leaves and grapes. It is from a large monumental vessel that would have formed part of the urban decoration of the forum, probably to be used in relation with the official and religious ceremonies held in that part of the city.
