moon shawl

1830s;?

Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields

Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields
Indianapolis, United States

This is a European copy of a moon shawl. All four sides have borders with infilled triangles and semi-circles. It does not have harlequin tab borders possibly because the maker was trying to emulate earlier shawls. They are clearly trying to stay in traditional models. A. Cooper 10/95.
