Morning Glories, Scissors and Porcelain Bowl

Morning glories were cultivated and hybridized in Japan, and books were published illustrating their many varieties, long before Mendel began his experiments with sweet peas in Europe. Gakutei illustrates three distinct varieties of morning glory, one within the other, at the edge of the porcelain bowl.
