The J. Paul Getty Museum
Los Angeles, United States

Fragment of a mosaic depicting a donkey and a long-legged bird perched on grapevines. The bird faces left and turns its head to look back towards the the donkey, who stands facing right. The grapevine has three clusters of grapes on its branches, two near the bird, and a third to the right of the donkey. The mosaic is very well preserved and shows great care in detail especially in the wings of the bird and in the depiction of musculature of the donkey.
