The mosaic with Mercury is a unique work of art and the only figural mosaic found in Sirmium so far. The bust of Mercury, the god of trade and crafts, is presented in one of the twelve hexagonal fields of the mosaic which is considered to be a kind of calendar. It was discovered as the first of the three mosaic levels of the Sirmium Imperial Palace.
