At the end of 1907, Olga Boznańska (1865-1940), who was already living in Paris, moved to a workshop situated at Boulevard du Montparnasse no. 49. this was most likely the place where she created this painting, as suggested by the view of the tram and the framing. The workshop at Montparnasse 49 was on the fourth floor of a townhouse on a busy street.
