This stone mould was originally used to make small bronze male figurines known as ‘male warriors in a throwing pose’. The man wears a short skirt with horizontal bands, but appears otherwise nude. The mould displays a pointed hollow above the man’s head. Possibly the little figure was wearing some kind of pointed cap, but the hollow was clearly intended primarily as a channel into which to pour the liquid bronze. The man’s right arm is raised; a weapon would certainly have been added to his hand at a later stage of the production process.
