Mountain night

It is one of the artist's very first works, which evidently refers to popular prints and lithographs or poor genre paintings. The animals are in profile almost in a heraldic position and the fairly uniform color builds an essential landscape, in which the mountain peak becomes clear, which becomes a significant element of the narrative, evident throughout the work. In this canvas if you notice the somewhat awkward movement of a beginner Ligabue - even in the carefully applied signature - however the painting does not lack its particular power of suggestion and a certain lyricism.
