Its medium is made of four sheets of paper put together so it comes as one. In the centre of the image there is an abstract form in the shape of a pyramid.
The mountain – as suggested in the title – was reduced to a mere symbol, a triangular one. Its form was divided along its height into two halves: a white and a black one. Such juxtaposition of two contrasting shades suggestively builds an illusion of a three-dimensional mountain with one slope exposed to light and another one obscured by darkness. There are lines fanning out from the centre of the image, those lines making up the divisions within the composition of the drawing. They also visibly mark the edges of stripes of various shades, alternating light and dark valour of grey. They mirror the edges of the drawing, running along the sides, which enforce a certain optical illusion of movement, inducing internal dynamics within the composition. Even though the mountain hints at reality, demonstrating some reference to the real-life phenomenon, it is strongly connected to, and in fact it became a vital part of, the graphic visual code chiefly due to the schematic, geometrical shape presented by the artist and, at the same time, accentuates its flat, two-dimensional character. This is additionally highlighted by the sinusoidal lines in red, yellow and blue running diagonally across the surface of the drawing. Mountain of Poets emanates an aura of mystery. It actively inspires our perception to meditate on the question of form in graphics, putting the act of looking before the ritual of searching for all the symbolic meanings. [E. Jarosz]
