Mr. Dob (A) is a work by the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami (Tokyo, Japan, 1962). The piece is a reinterpretation full of colour and references to the popular Japanese tradition of Murakami’s now mythical character: Mr. Dob. Takashi Murakami, one of the best-known figures in the contemporary art world, has been instrumental in shaping Japan’s modern art scene. Combining Japanese tradition with a Pop Art approach, Murakami has achieved not only critical acclaim, but also enormous commercial success: his career spans more than thirty years, his signature characters are globally recognised, and his exhibitions break records.
