This hand-carved and painted Mudhead (Koyemsi) Kachina represents one of the most recognizable figures in Hopi ceremonial life. With his signature bulbous head adorned with multiple rounded projections, the figure stands with both arms raised, one holding a rattle. He wears a black kilt, decorated belt, scarf, and traditional boots. Mudheads often serve as clowns, announcers, or drummers during ceremonies and are known for their humor and teaching roles.
