The mummy of Nespamedu relates to a man who was 55 years old when he died. Some leather fabric has been placed in his mouth, between his jaws, and his teeth are missing. His arms are crossed over his chest and his spine is crooked. There are packages containing viscera in the thorax and abdomen. The body, bandaged and wrapped in a linen shroud, is covered with five pieces of golden cartonnage with inscriptions and religious scenes. The face of the deceased is covered by a golden mask with the features and wig painted on in black. The scenes on the cartonnage are closely related to the funerary world, depicting winged goddesses, scenes of the mummy being revived, the children of Horus, etc. The inscriptions tell us that Nespamedu was a priest of Imhotep the Great, a semi-divine figure, doctor, architect and creator of the step pyramid at Saqqara. The mummy comes from Saqqara, where it would have been buried during the Ptolemaic Period, but we do not know exactly where or when he died.
