The postcard with a color print of a watercolor by Gebhard Reitz is part of the series "Bausteine für den Wiederaufbau der zerstörten Münchner Kirchen" ("Building Blocks for the Reconstruction of the Destroyed Munich Churches"); printed by Theodor Dietz and published between 1945 and 1950 by the Verlag der Katholischen Kirchen in Bayern. The purchase of a card was intended to finance the price of a stone for the reconstruction. Each set contained six postcards. Four of these sets are known. The bright colors in Reitz's watercolors contrast with the ruinous depicted.
