The Wittelsbach Fountain on Lenbachplatz was built between 1893 and 1895 in the classicist style. The reason for this was the completion of the spring water pipeline from the Mangfall valley in 1883. Adolf von Hildebrand's sketches emerged as the winner from the competition that the city of Munich announced in 1889. He was awarded the contract on the premise of moving his residence to Munich. This photograph was taken shortly after the completion of the fountain around 1900.
