Musal ukhli (Mortar & Pestle)

Some mortars are also set into the ground like in this example. Such a mortar is known as ukhli and the pestle as musal. This ukhli was made of stone and used to pound grains into smaller pieces to be used in dishes like khichdi (a dish prepared using different grains and lentils).
