From the Artist: The artwork, “Muscoot Farm Sukkot,” is a watercolor painting that was created in October 2020, during the pandemic. Painted “plein air” (live, outdoors) during the holiday of Sukkot, features a Hasidic family touring the grounds and gardens with their baby strollers. Any kind of activity and socialization had to be conducted outdoors, thus the activity of visiting a farm and painting plein air. Both the artist and the farm visitors were operating under the strictures of Covid guidelines, but adapting their habits to the new order. The pandemic forced me as an artist to paint more outdoors and to visit Westchester County parks more often as a way of getting out of the house and into the world.
