These two glass flasks, adorned with gold and polychrome enamel on both sides, feature the Bentivoglio family crest on one side and the Sforza family crest on the other. They may have been a gift to Giovanni II Bentivoglio, lord of Bologna, on the occasion of his wedding to Ginevra Sforza (1465) or for the marriage of his son Alessandro to Ippolita Sforza. The flasks were created before 1489, when the Bentivoglio crest incorporated the "pales" of the House of Aragon.
