Bologna's first industrial trade courses for women were established in 1962. Responding to the growing demand for skilled workers during Italy's economic boom, the city's Aldini Valeriani Institutes opened a female section, initially housed in the classrooms of the Elisabetta Sirani Girls' Institute.
