In the 18th century, Maria Brizzi Giorgi's music salon became a central hub for Bologna's musical scene. Her Accademia Polimniaca provided a vital space for training and performances, including the first city appearance of a young Rossini in 1806. Honorary member of the Filarmonica and Concordi Academies, her piano improvisations were praised by Clementi and Haydn and she performed in duos with Paganini. (Inv. B 11034 / B 37626)
