The motorbike was born at the same time as the car; Enrico Bernardi himself fitted a petrol engine to his son's tricycle, which can be considered to all intents and purposes the first rudimentary motorbike. With the advent of the motorbike, the myth of the centaur materialised: man is at one with the mechanical horse, a kind of fascinating identification that irresistibly appeals to the imagination.
