The Remington No. 9 had an undoubtedly improved movement mechanism and was equipped with an interchangeable slide with 5 lengths. It is necessary to remember that with regards to writing speed, ease of typing and resistance, the Remington model no. 7 was never surpassed by anything else of the same brand. However, there was no possibility of immediately seeing how much was being typed and the public was now demanding it. All machines from other competing brands were already capable of visible writing. In machines with a bottom strike, each individual hammer needs three times more space than the hammers in machines with a front strike which are very close together. In this sense many experiments were carried out and large sums of money were spent. Model No. 9 was the last blind writing product.
