The Music Department of the National Library is one of the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. From the very beginning (1923), under the leadership of its founder, philologist and composer Ladislav Vycpalek, it has focused its activities on collecting, adding to, processing and systematically making available a collection of music books, publications on music and other special materials, with special attention to materials of a bohemian nature.
