Mrs. Brown, played by Brenda Fricker, Pale peach lace dress and jacket.
“The red dress Fiona Shaw’s was never finished…”.With a budget of £8000
Bergin faced many challenges on My Left Foot, ‘it was beg borrow and steal
backed up by weekend trips to London's Portobello market stalls. All
brought back to Dublin in a myriad of black plastic sacks past startled
Customs Clearance officers’. The grey two-piece worn by Ruth Mc Cabe
originally belonged to the costume designer's mother. Irish Costume
designers often turn to alternative sources for costume when faced with a
challenging budget or run out of time when working to a tight schedule.
Brenda Fricker and Daniel Day Lewis went on to win Oscars for their
performances in My Left Foot.
