The Australian Festival of Progressive Music at Myponga, South Australia, was held 30 & 31 January, 1 February 1971. Estimates of crowd numbers over the weekend vary from 10,000 to 15,000. Held on a converted dairy farm, the festival was compared by Adrian Rawlins.

Performers included Black Sabbath (making their first appearance in Australia), interstate acts such as Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Chain, Daddy Cool, and Spectrum, and numerous South Australian bands including Fraternity, War Machine, Fat Angel, and Uncle Jack.

Held during the period of the Vietnam War, a draft resisters' tent was set up at the festival. This photo shows Rob Tillett (left) from Red Angel Panic performing in front of the tent.
