In the picture Schmuz-Baudiß depicts his 15-year-old daughter in a kimono, a popular requisite at the time for the longing for exotic and foreign cultures. The depiction is perhaps also to be seen as a counterpart to the figure of the Japanese woman in Adolf Amberg's centrepiece "Wedding procession". It was created during Schmuz-Baudiß's time as artistic director of the KPM – Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin and is also part of the collection of the Bröhan-Museum.
