Former Auschwitz I camp. Entrance gate with a sign that reads: ‘State Museum in Oświęcim’. Although the Museum was officially opened on 14 June 1947, it had actually been functioning since the spring of the previous year. Its employees protected the former camp premises, prepared exhibitions and provided guided tours for visitors.
