Ume (Japanese apricot) flower patterns are distributed over red paper in kofun (white pigment), and a pair of male and female hina dolls are adorned with gold ebōshi hats and hakama. These dolls are generally placed on sandawara (circular straw rice bag lid) or oshiki (edged square dish made of wood).
