The inscription ‘Fujiwara Kunitsugu’ was used by three heads of the Shimosaka School in Chikuzen Province (modern Fukui Prefecture) through three generations: the first (1615-1623), the second (1648-1651) and the third (1661-1672). It is unknown which of the three swordsmiths created this naginata (halberd).
