“Everywhere they went, the Guatemalan women were balancing bundles on their heads,” Eileen said of her Guatemalan visits. “Many of them huge. Then they could carry a baby or small child, meanwhile walking about in the most exciting colorful garments.” Eileen found the Guatemalan culture fascinating and praised the natives for “their beautifully proportioned bodies, golden skin, distinctive Mayan features” — and friendly and gracious manners. “What a flurry of activity. It was almost too much of a good thing.”
