Kallat has created a distinctive style with his earlier work steeped in the duress of the common man, the faceless people who remain outside the circle of power in urban India.
His works create a dramatic statement and many motifs and symbols are seen to resurface such as the protruding brain. Kallat not only uses the paint and brush but also incorporates other media such as silk screen into his work to give it a more theatrical effect.
