The raising of the U.S., Russian and Kazakh flags by Ford, Cassidy, prime Soyuz Commander Oleg Novitskiy, prime Flight Engineer Evgeny Tarelkin, backup Flight Engineer Alexander Misurkin and backup Soyuz Commander Pavel Vinogradov were part of the activities leading up to the scheduled launch of Ford, Novitskiy and Tarelkin October 23 in their Soyuz TMA-06 spacecraft for a five-month mission on the International Space Station.
