Silk flag served as the national colors of the 121st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The flag was manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio, between 1861 and 1863. There are 34 gold-painted stars arranged in a grid pattern (six rows of five stars and a seventh row of four stars) on a blue canton. The flag has thirteen alternating red and white stripes and gold fringe on its top, right, and bottom sides. Text on the flag's red stripes reads: "121st OHIO INFANTRY VOL'S / CHAPLIN HILL, CHICKAMAUGA, / MISSION RIDGE, CHATTANOO[...], / ROME, KENNESAW MT. JONESBO[...], / ATLANTA, SAVANNAH, BENTONVI[...]." Some of the text is illegible or lost due to deterioration. The "L" in Chaplin Hill was added later and was placed just above the other letters.
