National Geographic, April 1916 issue

Volume XXIX Number 4 edition of "The National Geographic Magazine" with a publication date of April 1916. 32 pages in four colors; cover has magazine's trademark pale yellow border with inner border of oak leaves and acorns. Magazine includes a pullout panorama on the "King of Trees." This issue--and particularly the illustrated article, "The Land of the Best: A Tribute to the Scenic Grandeur and Unsurpassed Natural Resources of Our Own Country" beginning on page 327 by Gilbert H. Grosvenor--was significant in lobbying efforts for the creation of the National Park Service in 1916. Photographs in black and white and color depict Yosemite, Crater Lake, Mount Rainier, Arches, Grand Canyon and more.
