Before you is the National Opera of Ukraine which is located in Kyiv on Volodymyrska street. Kyiv Opera was the third such building in Ukraine after Odesa and Lviv. Its project was developed by Victor Schröter, who was a prominent follower of both St. Petersburg and German architectural tradition. Architectural style – neo-renaissance. But art is not the only thing that makes this theatre famous: here, in 1919 during the show “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” Pyotr Stolypin, a third Prime Minister of Russia, was assassinated. He was sitting in the second row of the parterre in the red velvet chair number 17, which can now be found in the Museum of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
