Nativity Scene

The painting is part of a series of sketches that Felice Carena drew in the early Twenties finding inspiration in the New Testament. It is a group scene sketched with thick brushwork. The inside of the stable is central to the composition and around it are arranged human and animal silhouettes. Some shepherds are worshipping the newborn Saviour under a warm and feeble light emanating from a blessing Baby Jesus and his Mother.
