Nautical chart drawn in Mallorca in 1538. It covers the Western and Central Mediterranean region as far as Crete, and the Atlantic coast of the Iberian peninsula, up to Finisterre, and the North African coast. Signed by the designer Bartomeu Olives in Mallorca in 1538 on the neck of the parchment. The neck is on the Western side, where the figure of St Nicholas can also be seen. Together with his brother Jaume, Bartomeu Olives was the founder of a dynasty of Mallorcan cartographers who operated during a 15-year period, between 1538 and 1588, in the cities of Messina, Venice and Palermo.
