This vessel is cream with a red band dividing two panels which depict a repetitive pattern of burgundy shapes on black sticks. These shapes might be floral or agricultural. The Nazca was a coastal culture located south of Lima in the province of Ica. Museums are lucky to have examples of objects that are well preserved, but there are also many examples of objects like this one which show heavy damage. This piece has multiple chips missing along the rim, pitting throughout, and places where the paint is faded or lost. We can tell that the vessel has been repaired in the past.
