Ndungu

Artisans carved the bodies of these long, cylindrical, double-headed drums from logs and punctuated their surfaces with banded and geometric decoration. Drummers play the ndungu while it is in a horizontal position, at judicial hearings, to summon people to war, or to salute leaders.
