Near Louveciennes

The cool colors used by Alfred Sisley here evoke a late autumn evening. The austere landscape of the town near Paris was dotted with kitchen gardens. Sisley, who lived there from 1870 to 1874, experimented with incidental subjects using a dynamic, Impressionist brushstroke.
