A string of strong smelling rhizomes made from the fiber of doum palm leaves. The string is made by women by rubbing the fiber on their thigh.The rhizomes is cut from a small protuberance by men. Its worn by both sexes around the neck or waist. It is believed to ward off snakes and make them invisible to harmful animals. The rhizomes are chewed and the juice spat. It is also used as a possible aphrodisiac.
