Necklace

National Museums of Kenya

National Museums of Kenya
Nairobi, Kenya

A single strand necklace made of small red, blue and a few green beads interspersed with larger orange, red and yellow barrel beads strung on wire. It is worn by circumcised men and boys. Such necklaces are only worn for dancing although a few wear them all the time. When men wear the kapulbong they add nothing to it however, women add far or chewing gum. The five strands can be worn without adding others though for beauty purposes the more the better.
