Rebecca says: "My portraits always involve a sitting or two so working from photos has been a different way of working. Of course, in some ways working from a photo is easier --the light isn't always changing and the person is still; but bringing a photo to life is a different challenge. What surprised me is I have found making these NHS portraits to be a similar bonding experience that one gets with a sitter. Making them has helped me to feel connected to the time and the people working in the NHS for us all. Nesar sent a great photo that let me sense who she was and that was easy to work from."
Nesar says: "I am a junior doctor who has worked on a Covid unit for the past three months. Thank you for all the support, Thursday claps, discounted coffees, free meals and now this amazing painting!! It’s really made our working environment so much nicer throughout this time and enabled us to work as hard as we can for everybody that needs us with a boosted morale!”
